Background

In 2019, as a result of a somewhat freakish accident, the life of our client, Mr Y, a bus driver from Bristol, was to be turned upside down. While standing beside his own bus, he was reversed into by another bus driver. For a brief period, Mr Y was wedged between the two buses. The collision resulted in significant injuries, which not only affected his physical health but also had profound psychological effects.

The client sustained multiple injuries, including ligament damage to his right ankle and knee, as well as a torn cartilage in his right knee. These injuries were accompanied by psychological trauma, marking the beginning of a challenging recovery journey.

Injury and Recovery

Following the accident, the client faced an uphill battle. For approximately four months, he could not bear weight on his leg, severely limiting his ability to perform daily activities.

The physical pain was compounded by psychological distress; the sound of a reversing bus became a trigger for anxiety, nightmares, and flashbacks, further deteriorating his mental well-being.

Despite an initial period of gradual recovery, the client soon encountered a plateau in his physical healing.

The ongoing minor issues, which seemed resistant to treatment, led to mounting frustration.

Mr Y articulated his struggle poignantly:

“I’ve had lots of treatment to try and help my physical injuries, but nothing has worked. It’s started to drag on a bit, and I’m getting quite sick of it all now.”

Mooneerams Legal Advice and Assistance

Mr Y asked Mooneerams to take over the handling of his personal injury claim from another firm of solicitors as he was unhappy with the lack of progress being made by them.

Recognising the complexity of the client’s situation, Mooneerams Solicitors stepped in to provide essential support. Mooneerams Solicitors were instrumental in funding the recommended treatment for our client, which included steroid injections and ultrasound scans. These interventions were to play a crucial part in obtaining an accurate diagnosis of the client’s ongoing medical issues and facilitating progress in the client’s recovery.

The financial assistance Mooneerams Solicitors provided helped alleviate the client’s financial worries, allowing him to focus on his treatment and recovery.Rhys Pugh

With the correct medical care, the client began to see improvements in his physical condition, which helped to mitigate some of the psychological trauma he had been experiencing.

With the client’s route to recovery much clearer, Mooneerams could pursue his personal injury claim robustly, and this led to a successful settlement of Mr Y’s compensation claim, with our client accepting a final offer of £22,000.

The client accepted the settlement in early December and received the money in his account just in time for Christmas.

Solicitor Natalie Green, assisted by Rhys Pugh, had conduct of Mr. Y’s claim on behalf of Mooneerams Solicitors.
