Let us introduce you to Janice Greene, affectionately known as Jan, who has just completed a week of work experience at Mooneerams Solicitors. Jan’s journey to where she is now; studying law with a determination to become a qualified practicing solicitor, is quite something. We thought that with Jan’s permission we’d very briefly share her story so far, with you.
From her early days at Radyr 6th Form College, where she had the opportunity to choose between studying law or joining the Foreign Office/Diplomatic Service, to her impressive tenure at one of the world’s largest travel groups, Janice has always been driven to excel.
After college, Jan took a temporary summer job as a booking agent with Thomson Holidays (now TUI) She loved working for the company so much, that she decided to defer Uni, and extend her stay in the travel industry.
Twelve years later, Jan was able to look back on a career with Thomson’s, that saw her work in every department of the business before becoming the Manager of the only office in Wales. Her love of travel was borne out her career in travel. She has explored and worked on every continent, except for China (which remains at the top of her bucket list!).
Jan met her husband, Martin, in the mid-1980s. Together they built a highly successful real estate, property development, and travel business, in the USA. After years of international business ventures, they settled back in Cardiff in 2015.
But retirement didn’t suit Janice. Driven by her love for learning and eager for a new challenge, she seized the opportunity to finally renew her passion for law. Having been accepted into the USW (University of South Wales) Foundation Law pathway, Janice is determined to get a 2:1 degree, earn her professional law qualification and become a consultant commercial lawyer!
For the past few months, Janice has been mentored by Mooneerams Director, Andrew Last, as part of the USW mentoring scheme. Her dedication, commitment, and drive has impressed everyone at our firm, and we have no doubt that she is destined for a successful career in law.
What an outstanding journey so far and we wish Jan the best of luck in her pursuit of her dream career. We are honoured to have played a small part in her inspiring story (so far)!
