When Mooneerams solicitors was founded in 2002, it was the only law practice in Wales that dealt solely with personal injury claims on behalf of claimants. We don’t act for insurance companies.
The firm has recently celebrated its 16th birthday and do you know what? Mooneerams solicitors is still the only purely claimant personal injury solicitors’ firm in Wales! We are immensely proud of that.
However, the fact that we only take on personal injury cases, can give some people the wrong impression about us. We thought it might be helpful to answer a few of the questions we get from time to time about Mooneerams, by way of a ‘Myth Busters’ session, featuring some of the questions that we are asked most frequently.
When you say that you are a ‘purely’ claimant personal injury firm, what do you mean by that?
We mean that the only type of legal work that we do for clients is personal injury compensation work on behalf of people wishing to make a claim for compensation. (Our solicitors also help people to obtain compensation when they have been injured as a result of a criminal act by another person. This is done by helping the victim to pursue a CICA (Criminal Injury Compensation Authority) claim.)
Mooneerams don’t do wills, probate, divorce (family), crime, or any type of commercial or company law work ourselves (but we can still help in those areas, as you will see below)
Why do you only do personal injury compensation claims and no other areas of legal work?
Ever since the firm opened, back in 2002, the directors of Mooneerams have solidly maintained the principle that solicitors’ firms should be ‘masters’ of what they do and not ‘jacks of all trade.’ I was a founding partner in Mooneerams when it started up in 2002. We were all trained as and had thereafter practised as, personal injury solicitors. It, therefore, seemed logical that we should set up a specialist personal injury claims solicitors’ firm.
Over the years, we have honed our skills to become experts in Road Traffic Accident Personal Injury claims, Accident at Work claims and Slip, Trip and Fall (Public Liability) compensation claims.
People come to us because we are very good at what we do, as the recommendations, feedback and reviews that we receive, are a testament to. We also put client care right at the top of our list of priorities.
We have seen many firms and individual solicitors stretch themselves too thinly over too many areas of law. For us, that system or model doesn’t work. That’s our view, others may differ in their opinion. However, it is the system that has served us well for 16 years. We do not see any reason to change what has been a winning formula for us and more importantly, for our clients!
So, If I have another type of legal problem, it’s no use me coming to you?
On the contrary. Although we do not undertake other types of legal work ourselves, we have, over the years, built up great relationships with expert solicitors in other fields. As a result of this, we are able to recommend solicitors in the following fields;
- Asbestos Disease Compensation Claims
- Clinical Negligence Compensation Claims
- Conveyancing
- Criminal Law
- Land and property disputes
- Wills, trusts and probate
- Employment Law.
You could say that we believe in the saying ‘horses for courses.’ The solicitors that we recommend to you will, like us, be experts in their own area of law. So, we know you’ll be in good hands if you instruct them to represent you in their specialist fields of law. Oh, and by the way, we do not take any type of commission or fee for recommending you to another solicitor.
Road traffic accident personal injury compensation claims are whiplash claims, aren’t they?
We think that there is a misconception that all road traffic accident injury claims are for whiplash injury compensation. Perhaps that is due to the newspapers and the insurance companies who push the idea that we are the ‘whiplash capital of the world’ here in the UK.
Yes, we do pursue claims for whiplash compensation on behalf of clients who instruct us to do so. That is because whiplash is the most common type of injury following a road traffic accident, certainly where motor vehicles have been hit from behind by other vehicles. It’s a genuine injury and can be a very painful one, with the effects lasting for a number of years or longer. Don’t let insurance companies tell you otherwise!
However, road traffic accident personal injury claims don’t just happen as a result of car accidents and equally not all the injuries are whiplash injuries. The most common types of road traffic accident injury claim are as a result of;
- Car, van or lorry accidents (Driver and/or passengers)
- Cycling accidents
- Motorbike accidents
- Pedestrian accidents
- Bus or coach accidents
The injury claims that we pursue on behalf of clients involved in these types of accidents, are of a wide and varied nature and include;
- Neck and back injuries – Whiplash, spinal cord injury, sprains
- Head and Brain injuries – skull fractures, traumatic brain injury, internal bleeding
- Spinal injuries
- Broken bones
- Internal organ damage
- Soft tissue injuries – muscle, ligament, tendon damage
- Lacerations and bruising
- Fatal accidents
Road accidents cover a lot of bases and involve a wide variety of injuries, some very serious indeed. We have extensive experience of dealing with claims of all types – not just whiplash.
Accidents at work and slip, trip and fall accidents can also cause a wide range of injuries too, from the fairly minor to those of the utmost severity.
Wouldn’t my injury claim be better handled by a bigger firm?
Whilst we would never say anything negative about other individual firms, there is actually an argument for saying that your injury claim might receive a more personal and hands-on service at a slightly smaller firm like Mooneerams. In fact, our clients tell us that they like the work that we do for them not only because we get good results in a timely fashion, but also because we treat them as individuals and provide excellent client care. Perhaps larger firms (in terms of personnel) might not always be able to provide that level of individual client care? We frequently take over ongoing personal injury claims from other firms, because our newly acquired clients do not feel that they are receiving the type of service and client care that they expect and that we, ultimately, are able to give them.
As the saying goes;
‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!’
For us, that perfectly sums up the service that clients have received from Mooneerams ever since the firm started in 2002 and that they still receive to this day.
