On the Friday evening, the 4th of April, Mooneerams Charity of the Year, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity held its annual ball at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff. Although we had been told the Ball is always a spectacular event, there was an extra sense of expectation surrounding it, this time round, since it was the 25th Anniversary Ball.

It was in 2000 that the Noah’s Ark Appeal was launched in an attempt to realise the charity’s founding members commitment to building a children’s hospital for Wales. At the time, Wales was the only country in Europe not to have a dedicated hospital for sick children.

In 2006, film and TV stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas officially opened the hospital. The appeal to raise funds continued apace and over the subsequent nineteen years, the charity has raised millions of pounds to fund a teenage cancer trust unit, donate state of the art equipment, refurbish the adolescent unit, operating theatres and a radiology unit.

The need for funds will never go away, as was stressed at the 25th Annual Charity Ball. So, amidst the celebrations, the fine food and sparkling entertainment from Only Men Aloud, Firey Jack, Aloud Voices and the amazing 14-year-old singers Lucia and Evie, there was some important fund raising to be done. Thankfully those in the packed venue responded in kind and by the end of the evening, it was announced that over £45,000 had been raised during the course of the evening.

The evenings proceedings were seamlessly presided over by TV star Gethin Jones and former Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital patient, Mia Lloyd who is now an ambassador for the charity.

The evening was a huge success.

Mooneerams sponsor Noah's Ark 25th Anniversary Ball

Twenty of the Mooneerams team had the pleasure of attending the Ball and the firm was privileged to be one of the three main sponsors of this most memorable of events.

Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity became Mooneerams Solicitors fourth Charity of the Year in February 2025 after a vote by over 2300 of Mooneerams followers on Facebook and Instagram.

For Mooneerams, the Ball marked in earnest the beginning of year’s events to raise funds for Noah’s Ark charity. During the course of the coming months, Mooneerams will be holding one of their popular Cake Bake Sales and attending a host of fundraising activities on behalf of the charity. At the same time individual members of the Mooneerams Team will be cycling the 100 miles from Cardiff to Tenby, (The CarTen), running in the Cardiff Half Marathon later this year and undertaking to (virtually) walk from  the top of Wales to the bottom, a mere 187 miles, or 421,000 steps.

It promises to be an exciting year ahead, but we must never forget that our primary purpose in all of this, is to raise funds and awareness for the magnificent Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity.
