Not too long ago, you were likely to bump into a personal injury solicitor (or one of their adverts) on every street corner. Either that, or you were getting pestered with cold calls from claims management or insurance companies about a claim you may or may not have made!
Fast forward to October 2023, and the number of solicitors firms handling personal injury claims is getting fewer every week.
We know that some firms that have historically handled personal injury claims are no longer doing so. As a result of the most recent rule changes brought in by the government on the 1st of October 2023, we expect more firms to leave the personal injury sector. Some will advise potential clients that they can’t take on their personal injury claims because the claim’s potential value is less than £100,000.
As you can imagine, the compensation value of most injury claims is under £100,000. Whilst some in the legal profession may label such claims as ‘lower value’, at Mooneerams, we don’t.
The good news
These latest reforms will not affect Mooneerams commitment to provide access to justice for the innocent victims of accidents caused by the negligence of another person, company, local authority or employer. We don’t and won’t turn away people because the value of their injury claim is too low.
So, will Mooneerams solicitors still take on my personal injury claim, even if the claim’s value is less than £100,000?
Yes, providing the claim meets our criteria of having ‘reasonable prospects of success.’
Will Mooneerams take over my case from a solicitors firm that no longer wishes to handle Personal Injury compensation claims?
Yes, we are happy to take over your claim from another solicitor, and upon receiving instructions from you, we will write to them to gain access to your file of papers.
I’m worried that my current solicitors may stop doing personal injury claims. Can I switch solicitors to Mooneerams?
Yes, you can switch solicitors. However, before doing so, we’d advise you to make an appointment to discuss your concerns with the solicitor currently handling your case. They may be able to reassure you that they have no plans to stop doing PI work. Of course, if you still have concerns after speaking with your solicitor, you are entirely free to change solicitors.
Will I still be able to get a No Win No Fee personal injury claim?
Yes, your right to enter into a No Win No Fee arrangement with your chosen solicitor is unaffected by these latest changes to the law.
We re-branded the Mooneerams logo a few years ago by adding the words ‘The Personal Injury Solicitors’ underneath the company name. It describes what we do in four words and what Mooneerams has been doing for 21 years since its doors opened for the first time.
We don’t act for insurance companies by defending claims on their behalf. We don’t accept work from claims management companies either.
At Mooneerams, we only handle personal injury compensation claims for ordinary people like you who have been unlucky enough to suffer injury in an accident caused by another person’s carelessness (negligence).
We are a niche, experienced claimant personal injury solicitors firm, and we’re here to stay!
